There is dodgeball today from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at the RecPlex.
Medical Club wants you to know that Saturday, October 10th is World Mental Health Day. A day for all global mental health education, awareness and advocacy. It was established to raise awareness for mental illnesses, such as major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. An estimated 26.2% of Americans older than 18 suffer from a diagnosable mental illness in any given year though stigma still surrounds those illnesses. The day is part of the effort to put an end to the stigma and advocate for treatment and recovery.
Hats must be kept in lockers during school hours. If students are found with a hat during school hours, it will be taken away. No hats also applies to lunch periods and the parking lot during lunch period unless it is freezing weather.
Gateway is holding an open house at the Kenosha Campus 3520 35th Avenue on Tuesday, October 13th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. The cost is $30, but if you register in advance the $30 fee will be waived. Please see Mrs. Anderson for registration information. If you are thinking of going to Gateway, you do not want to miss this meeting.
Thursday, October 15th is picture retake day. If you did not purchase pictures at picture day September 2nd, you can still view the proofs at lifetouch.com. You will need to either call Lifetouch customer service at 800-736-4753 or do a live chat to obtain the picture ID number. Picture day packets for October 15th are available in the office.
The Book Club will be attending two Kenosha Big Read events. Join us at UW Parkside for the “To Kill a Mockingbird” evening extravaganza complete with treats, games, and a costume contest on Wednesday, October 21st. Then on Friday, November 6th come to opening night of “To Kill a Mockingbird” at the Rhode Open House. Please see Mrs. Overocker for any questions and permission slips.
The Board of Directors is holding a Halloween Social on Thursday, October 29th from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. There will be food, games, and dancing. It does not cost anything to go, but there will be other item for sale so bring a few bucks in cash. Come in a costume for a night of spooky-scary fun!
