“STUDENT INTERVENTIONS”
Student Interventions is a program that runs from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. every day of the school year except on testing days. Any student who scores below 70% on a test or quiz or whose class average is below 70% is required to attend Student Inter-ventions. This is a small group or one-one-one tutorial to help your daughter or son increase her/his grade up to 70% or better. This is not a punishment program but rather an organized effort to help all students receive passing and competent grades.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO SEE THAT ALL STUDENTS ATTEND “STUDENT INTER-VENTIONS” WHEN ASSIGNED AND THAT EACH STUDENT TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THIS EXTRA HELP SESSION TO ACHIEVE AT A SATISFACTORY LEVEL. PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR DAUGHTER/SON TO MAKE THE BEST OF THIS EXTRA HELP PROGRAM .
Dear Family and Friends of LTA:
Does your son or daughter struggle in mathematics or maybe just needs some extra practice to study for an up coming test? Even if your son or daughter is not taking mathematics course now, there is some important information that you need to know? The Kenosha Unified School District has adopted a new
math curriculum last year along with brand new books and materials. With the new adoption, KUSD now has a website that all students can go to for math help and extra practice? The McDougal Littell website address is www.classzone.com . Once you are at the website click on the “Math” icon, then click on the “High School” icon, then click on the state of Wisconsin and choose the textbook used in class. From there students can pick any chapter and section they wish to study. If you do not have a home computer with internet access, don't worry! At the public libraries, they have computers with free internet access for all Kenosha residents; otherwise LTA has a limited numbers of CD's with some of the resources found on the website. Just have your son or daughter stop by to see Mrs. Castineyra about borrowing a disk. We hope your son and daughter can make use of this free study tool.
Kenosha Regional Science and Engineering Fair
On January 12, 2008, Lakeview hosted the first Kenosha Regional Science and Engineering Fair. This fair is open to any high school student in Kenosha County . There were over 75 projects displayed. Projects ranged over 7 science and engineering categories. The winners for this year's contest won $100 and chance to go on to the national competition in Atlanta .
Get involved !
The students at LakeView have requested the resumption of clubs. Some of the present clubs function after school and evenings. The students would like a greater variety. If you have some time and interest to either chaperone or lead a club, I would like to know about it. I will try to match our student's interests with your time and talent. Please give me, Mr. William Hittman-Principal, a phone call at 945-2396 so we can discuss the possibilities.

JUNIOR & SENIOR PASSES
Junior and senior passes have been issued to all students who received all grades higher than 70% for last quarter and had no office referrals. The Senior Pass allows those students to have an open campus for lunch, meaning they are allowed to leave the building and get lunch elsewhere. Furthermore, they are allowed to leave for our 25 minute morning break time. Junior passes are ONLY for lunch and students need to have a parent sign a permission slip in order to obtain this privilege. If any student returns late or gets in trouble while gone, their pass will be revoked either permanently or for a specified period of time based on the violation. This privilege extends from quarter to quarter. This means that to earn the privilege for quarter 3 they need to maintain 70% academically and no office referrals from quarter 2, and so on.
