Automated Manufacturing

This program is designed to train students to enter the world of work directly after high school graduation with a marketable skill. Students can also choose to complete the remaining one year of study through Gateway Technical College to obtain their Associates Degree as an Automated Manufacturing Systems Technician.

The program will train students to work in a factory that has a high level of automation. Emphasis is placed on automated systems, including production systems and material handling systems. The education is broad based and multi-disciplinary and includes an understanding of electrical and mechanical components, computers, and quality control.

Courses include: Technology Systems 1 & 2, Fundamentals of Manufacturing, Computer Aided Design (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced), Mechanical Skills, Metrology, CNC Programming, Robotics, and DC/AC Principles

Information Technology

This program is designed to train students in the information technology areas of computer support specialist, network specialist, or a programmer/analyst. The courses at LakeView Technology Academy lay the foundation for students to complete a 2 or 4 year degree in any of these fields in a shortened period of time (1 - 3 years post high school).

In the Information Technology program students learn to analyze, interpret, and solve business problems for users of microcomputers. They will learn how to use, install and upgrade hardware and software, including operating systems, networking, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, communications, and business accounting. Students will also learn about computer programming languages and web page design/development.

Courses include Tech Systems 1 & 2, Computer Applications for IT, Intro to Computer Programming/Robotics, Web Page Design, Computer Aided Design, IT Fundamentals, Operation Systems Fundamentals, Intro to Networking, Internet Programming, Microcomputer Programming, Web Page Sampler, and Routing Principles.

Pre-Engineering
(Project Lead the Way)

This program is prepares students for the rigorous course work of a college-level engineering program. Project Lead the Way is a national organization established to help schools give students the knowledge they need to excel in high tech fields. Students are introduced to engineering principles, concepts, and real-world problems in high school.

Project Lead the Way classes generally consist of one-third theory and two-thirds application, which gives students meaningful, hands-on experience in problem solving, teamwork, and project- based learning. Students entering this program should have very strong skills in mathematics and science. LakeView Technology Academy teaches five of the six PLTW courses.

Courses include: Technology Systems 1, Intoduction to Principles of Engineering, Fundamentals of Engineering, Introduction to Engineering Design (Honors), Principles of Engineering (Honors), Digital Electronics (Honors), Computer Integrated Manufacturing (Honors), and Engineering Design and Development (Honors)

Aviation Technology
(*limited program)

This program is designed to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for admission to a pilot training program. The students in this program will develop skills in weather analysis, preflight preparation of aircraft, and aircraft systems management.

*This program is taught in cooperation with the Automated Manufacturing program and most courses are similar. It DOES NOT offer coursework in actual private pilot training. This program is in the formation stage and courses may or may not be available each school year.

Courses include: Tech Systems 1 & 2, Into to Aviation, Mechanical Skills, Computer Aided Design (Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced), Aero Science - Aviation Weather, Instruments and Engine/Structure/Systems.

Biomedical Engineering
(Project Lead the Way)

This program is intended for students who are interested in pursuing careers in health care or a related laboratory profession. Students learn about the body systems, diseases and treatments.

Biomedical Sciences program includes four courses:
  • Principles of the Biomedical Sciences
  • Human Body Systems
  • Medical Intervention
  • Scientific Research
